Parts Of A Plant

Zǎoshang hǎo (早上好). With all this back and forth weather in NYC (38 degrees one day & 60 degrees the next) I thought I’d share a post to help kick start spring.

I drew the parts of a plant for both Ryann Ashlee and her sister Rylee to enjoy. To be honest, creating this poster was a little difficult. I thought I’d be able to simply find a chart in Mandarin and recreate it, but that wasn’t the case.

Originally I thought I could use something simple like google translate along with a few videos and a dictionary site to find translations. Boy how I was wrong (lol). It took longer time to translate the parts of the plant than it took to draw it. Here’s an example. The word ‘root’in Mandarin had 100 different translations.

In order to choose the correct one I had to cross reference different articles and websites to select which translation I needed. I was racking my mind forever just trying to get it right.

All in all it was a challenge but well worth it. I’m looking forward to the spring when I can do more hands on projects with the girls. Stay tuned for our future projects of spring time bugs and insects!

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed my post. Don’t forget to follow to stay up to date with my latest post
